this is not my post  . . . it belongs to my good friend Aaron Ivey . . . I am not married but I think it is a great blog.  Maybe some of you married people’s will like it.

every man knows about the “point system” in marriage. see, you get points for doing things out of the ordinary and/or subtly expected. sometimes points may be received, for example, if you take your wife on a surprise date to her favorite restaurant. other times, points may be received if you simply do something that’s non-verbally expected, such as taking out the trash BEFORE she asks you to. it’s a complex yet incredibly simple part of any marriage. complex because you ALWAYS and NEVER know what will get you points, and simple because even the simplest thing can earn points.

another basic piece of knowledge about the point system is that everything (no matter how big or small) is ONE point. even when an action earns you “points” or “bonus points,” after carefully adding up the points one realizes it is in fact only ONE point. one would think that surprising your wife with a house entirely mopped, swept, and vacuumed (which i have never done) would accumulate several points. this would be an incorrect assumption, as all of these beautiful things combine to form ONE point. even if she says, “oh man…you get major points for this,” it’s still only one point. this example can also go to the other extreme. if you simply make a bootleg card out of construction paper and crayons that says, “i love you” on the front… one would naturally assume that this act would earn considerably less points than buying the wife 12 dozen roses. one would think the card would be 1/2 a point.  this is not so. it is still ONE point.

another basic piece of knowledge:  points can never be redeemed for anything.  it’s not like earning tickets at Chuck E Cheese.  there’s not counter at the end of the day, where you can count your tickets, turn them in, and purchase a spider ring, 2 Tootsie Rolls, and a glow-in-the-dark shark necklace.  instead, there’s just a mindless stack of phantom points that have no formal or written currency.  encouraging isn’t it!  haha…

all this to say, i earned MAJOR point(s) when jamie returned from Haiti this weekend. (major = 1, of course) i painted her a painting, and had it hanging in our bedroom. you can see it here.

Drink all your Starbuck’s at one time . . .

So late Saturday night I got back from Hillsong Conference . . . which was totally amazing by the way . . . but to make a long story short . . . I was getting my things out of my friends vehicle . . . and the back is a hatch that flips all the way up . . . I had my old 1/2 drunken Choc Chip Mint Frapp in my hand . . . and as I reach up to close the door . . . I was not thinking . . . and poured frapp all over myself as I tried to shut the hatch. So yeah, that’s my story

New Job!!!

So I noticed that I have not blogged in a long time.  For about a month I have been very consumed with my new job.  But now that everything is set in stone and I signed the papers this last Thursday I feel much better and at easy.

Feels very different having a salary job  So much to tell about it.  More to come soon but for now I am going to go swim laps since I have not since Monday

Fruit Morning – Swimming

So this morning I started off the day . . . deciding (because I believe it is a daily choice) to eat something different for breakfast.  I thought to myself, what would be healthy, filling, and satisfying.  Then my mom asked if I wanted some fruit.  So I figure why not eat all fruit . . . I started off with some coconut (rich in fiber), then had mango, followed by a peach, after that an orange, and finally a banana . . . finished all that off with a glass of water.  Maybe next time I should be adventurous and stick all that fruit in a blender :/

After all that I went swim laps at the Aquatic Center.  The last two times I went swimming I swam 25 laps . . but today I was feeling kinda tired . . . so 20 laps was enough.  What amazes me is that usually after swimming I am so freakin hungry!! This time though, I am still satisfied.  So I am thinking maybe I should eat fruit before swimming more often.

New Fla’vas

So a buddy of mine introduced me to a new flavor (the one on the right) Maui Melon Mint. Pretty good stuff I must admit.  But then one day I was at the check out line at Walmart (boo!! i know) and came across a new flavor called Sangria Fresca.  

For the life of me I can’t decide which one I like better . . . anyone else tried either of these?

Hello to all my friends!!!

So in the last few months, I have seen some of my friends (Bush, Aaron, and Amos) using their own blog on this site.  Figure it is time for me to start my own and join the cool club.

The Guajardo brother’s are talking about getting Four Star Union rolling again . . . haha . . . seriously this time . . . along with reuniting with an old band member that we see as a brother!!
